Patients Concern
Disease/Condition Glossary
Motion sickness: It is caused when nerves within your ear transmit false information about your brain's movement with signals. It clashes with the signals received from your other ear, your eyes, or your body, whether the nerves in one of your ears transmit too many, too few, or incorrect messages to your brain. Travel sickness is triggered while flying by frequent irregular movements. Like going over bumps or around in a circle, these repetitive motions give your brain loads of messages.
Vertigo: Vertigo, sometimes known as dizziness, is a feeling of motion or spinning. Being lightheaded and vertigo are not the same thing. Vertigo patients experience the sensation that they are moving or spinning in real life, or that everything is spinning around them. Episodes of vertigo last for 20 minutes to many hours but not more than a day.
